šĀ Sugar Q: āWhat is mental health, really?ā
Auntie Angela keeps it real ā āMental health is just like your physical health,ā she says. āYou go to the doctor for your body, right? You can go to someone for your mind, too.ā
She loves Therapy for Black GirlsĀ ā a directory where you can find therapists who look like youĀ and get you.
āWe all need somebody we can talk to ā someone who can help us manage our thoughts and emotions.ā
š” The Tea:Ā
Therapy isnāt weakness ā itās wisdom. š§ š
šĀ Sugar Q: āHow do I hear Godās voice?ā
Angela admits ā itās hard with all the noise out there. āWeāve got phones, friends, YouTube, TikTok ā chatter everywhere. You have to quiet the noise.ā
Her advice?
Pray before you scroll š±
Go to church or a safe space that grounds you
Start with small devotionals (she loves In Touch Magazine)
āGod wonāt shout over the noise. You have to make space to hear Him.ā
š” The Tea:Ā
Faith isnāt found in the scroll ā itās found in the stillness. š

Auntie Angelaās got two girls in high school, so sheās living this question in real-time! Her secret? Know yourself.
āFigure out your purpose ā what are your strengths, your talents, your interests? Then find the school that fits you.ā
She says to consider everything ā your major, the vibe of the campus, even the food and the dorms (because yes, that matters š ).
š” The Tea:Ā
College is more than a logo on a hoodie ā itās a match for who youāre becoming.
šĀ Sugar Q: āHow do I help a friend whose parents are divorcing?ā
Angelaās been there, too. Her first message is gentle but firm:
ā99% of the time, itās not about you. Itās your parents figuring out their values and goals.ā
She recommends support groups like Divorce Care for KidsĀ and ā most importantly ā learning the art of forgiveness.
āYou donāt want to carry that pain into your own story. Let it go. Youāre still whole.ā
š” The Tea:Ā
Your parentsā story isnāt your destiny, sugar. š

šĀ Sugar Q: āWhatās something you wish you knew in high school?ā

āI wish someone told me to be unapologetically me. God made me with purpose. The world needs what I bring.ā
š” The Tea:Ā
