Auntea: Morgan Renee Sillsā
Topic:Ā Confidence, balance, and redefining beauty

šĀ Sugar Q: āAuntea, can I really do bothĀ ā be smart and stylish?ā
Morgan laughed. āYes, baby ā and donāt let anyone tell you different!ā
Sheās living proof. šš¾Ā A Howard Law graduateĀ and model, Auntea Morganās journey flows between fashion and activismĀ ā and sheās rocking both lanes like a pro.
She started modeling at 13 (shoutout to BarbizonĀ girls š š½), took a detour into basketball, then circled back to fashion later in life ā this time, fully owning her confidence and creativity.
š”Ā The Tea:
Youāre allowed to evolve. You can love sneakers andĀ stilettos ā law books andĀ lipstick.
š¤Ā Sugar Q: āHow did you know law was for you?ā
āI didnāt ā at first,ā she admitted.
After college, Morgan joined the Peace CorpsĀ and lived in Morocco before returning to the U.S. to work for Color of Change, a racial justice organization.
But something was missing. āI realized I didnāt know the law well enough to fight for change the way I wanted to,ā she said. So she took a leap and applied to Howard University School of Law.
š”Ā The Tea:
Purpose doesnāt always show up in a straight line. Sometimes it takes a few pivots ā and a prayer.
šļøĀ Sugar Q: āTell us about Vintage & Charmed ā we heard itās the spot!ā
āYes! Itās a Black-owned boutique in the Anacostia Arts Center,ā Morgan smiled. āEverything is secondhand, couture, or upcycled by local designers. Nothingās fast fashion ā every piece has a story.ā
She works there part-time while balancing her day job at IBM.
š”Ā The Tea:
Your side passion doesnāt have to stay āon the side.ā It can refill your joy while you chase your goals. āØ
šĀ Sugar Q: āWhatās your morning ritual, Auntea?ā
āThe first thing I do is pray,ā she said. āBefore I grab my phone or scroll, I thank God for my health, safety, and family. Then I play meditation or affirmation music ā usually Tony Jones ā and speak life over my day.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā
Gratitude is the best beauty secret. It centers your spirit beforeĀ the world tries to shake it. šš¾
šĀ Sugar Q: āWhat is beauty?ā
āI wish I could tell you Iāve always felt beautiful,ā she said softly. āBut even as an adult, I have to remind myself.ā
Between modeling gigs and law classes, sheās faced every kind of criticism ā too tall, too dark, too skinny, too curvy, too natural. āAt some point, I stopped trying to fix what other people didnāt like and started loving myself louder.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā
Confidence is the real contour. No filter can compete with peace.
šĀ Sugar Q: āCan you love someone too much?ā
āYes, you can,ā she said gently. āIf your love for them makes you forget to love yourself, itās too much.ā
She told a story about a past relationship where someone asked her to cut her locks. āI thought about it ā then stopped. My hair is part of who I am. If loving you means erasing me, thatās not love.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā
Real love doesnāt shrink you ā it sees you.
šĀ Simiās Sip
You canāt pour from an empty cup, sugar. Protect your peace, honor your purpose, and keep evolving ā no matter what anyone says.
Youāre already becoming everything you dreamed of. š
Not a lecture, just a sip of tea.Ā āš
