šĀ From Ridge Road to Runway Ready
When Auntie Tia talks beauty, she means more than makeup ā sheās talking about confidence.
Growing up in Southeast DC, her mom ran a hair salon, so Tiaās first ājobā was folding towels for $50 a week. āI was so hype about that 50 bucks,ā she laughs. āIād go buy sneakers right after.ā š
By 12, she was shampooing hair. By 20, sheād found her passion for makeup ā inspired by a fabulous artist named Butch at her momās salon.
āHe would come in so fabulous, and I just thought ā I want to be him! I didnāt even know this could be a real job.ā
Fast forward: Tia became a top MAC Cosmetics artistĀ before launching her own brand, House of StylesĀ ā complete with candles, masks, and glam essentials made for every kind of woman.
āWhen people leave my chair feeling beautiful, Iāve done my job.ā
šĀ Sugar Q: āMy Life Is So Boring ā Should I Start Smoking or Hanging Out More?ā
āRead a book, baby.ā š
Tia laughs, but she means it. āYou donāt need a puff or a crowd to feel alive. Fill your mind, not your lungs.ā
She shares how sheās seen young girls turn to smoking or partying as a distraction. āI drove past one of my old classmates who used to be the āit girl.ā Now sheās standing on the same corner from high school. It broke my heart.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā
The glow-up starts in your mind, not your mouth.Ā Find what inspires you ā and chase that instead. š±
š©Ā Sugar Q: āMy Boyfriend Doesnāt Let Me Go Anywhere By Myself. Is That Normal?ā
āNo, sugar. Thatās a red flag.ā š©
Tia keeps it real about controlling relationships:
āIf he canāt let you go anywhere alone, thatās not love ā thatās control. Donāt let anybody love you to death.ā
She shares a chilling story about a close friend whose boyfriendās āclinginessā turned dangerous. āWe thought he was just protective. But it ended in tragedy.ā
š”Ā The Tea:
Love should make you feel safe,Ā not stuck. Know the difference early. ā¤ļø
š°Ā Sugar Q: āShould I Date a Drug Dealer?ā
Tia doesnāt even blink. āAbsolutely not.ā
āMy grandmother used to say thereās only two ways out of that life ā dead or in jail. And who wants that?ā
She breaks down the cycle of danger, false security, and āgift culture.ā āAll those bags and shoes? They come with a price. And when heās gone, youāll be left holding the bag ā literally.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā Ā
If it costs your peace, itās too expensive.Ā āØ
šøĀ Sugar Q: āMy Acne Is So Bad. What Makeup Should I Use?ā
Tiaās first response: āGirl, before we talk makeup, letās talk dermatologist.ā
She stresses clean habits ā pillowcases, phones, and diets. āStop putting all that oil in your hair at night and not washing your face right after! And drink water ā not soda.ā š§
āDonāt just cover it up. Heal it up.ā
š”Ā The Tea:Ā
Confidence isnāt foundation-deep. True glow comes from taking care of yourself. š š½
šĀ Simiās Sip
From shampoo girl to CEO, Auntie Tia reminds us that beauty starts with self-respect. Donāt shrink your shine, and donāt settle for anyone who dims it.
Not a lecture, just a sip of tea.Ā āš
