Topic:Â Staying grounded, trusting your gut, and defining love on your own terms

đ Sugar Q: âDo the decisions I make in high school even matter?â
Auntea Karen keeps it real: yes, they do.
âBack in my day, the choices you made shaped your path â academic, vocational, or professional. And even now, what you explore in high school sets the tone for your future.â
So try things, sugar! Join that club, take that random art class, or run for student council. You donât know what will spark something in you until you try.
đĄÂ The Tea:
Every âlittleâ choice helps build the woman youâre becoming. Donât sleep on the small stuff.
đŤÂ Sugar Q: âIs it really that bad to try weed in high school?â
Karen didnât hold back:
âNo. Your mind is still developing. You donât know where this stuff is coming from â itâs not like the old days. People add things to keep you coming back.â
And Auntie M added a gem too â smoking gives folks a reason to âengageâ with you (read: harass you). So donât hand anyone an excuse.
đĄÂ The Tea:
Protect your peace and your brain. You donât need smoke to be lit. đ đ˝
đŤÂ Sugar Q: âDo you believe in God?â
Karenâs answer? Simple and honest.
âYes. Things happen every day that I donât control. Somehow, they work out. Thereâs definitely a higher being, and I call him God.â
Even if youâre still figuring out your faith, knowing what you believe helps you stay grounded when life gets messy.
đĄÂ The Tea:
Faith isnât about perfection â itâs about peace.
â¤ď¸Â Sugar Q: âHow do you know when someone really loves you?â
âFirst, you need to know your definition of love,â Auntea Karen said. âPeople see all kinds of things and call it love â but love isnât pain.â
Simi chimed in too: Love is a verb. Itâs what people do â not just what they say.
đĄÂ The Tea:
If someone says they love you but treats you like youâre disposable, thatâs not love. Thatâs confusion.
âď¸Â Sugar Q: âWhat do you do when life feels heavy?â
Auntea Karenâs go-tos:
đśÂ Music.
đ Laughter.
đ§đžÂ Movement.
âCertain songs turn my whole mood around. I love comedy, I love yoga, and I move my body when I need to reset.â
đĄÂ The Tea:
Joy is medicine â and itâs free.
đ Sugar Q: âWhat book would you tell your younger self to read?â
âActs of Faith by Iyanla Vanzant,â Karen said. âItâs short, but every page hits. You can read one piece a day and get something powerful from it.â
đĄÂ The Tea: Â
Sometimes, the right words find you exactly when you need them.
đ Sugar Q: âIf you could talk to your high school selfâŚâ
âI was skinny and teased for it â didnât realize people were jealous. Twiggy came out, and suddenly my look was âin.â So be who you are. Go with your gut. If it feels wrong, donât do it. If it feels good â think on it, then move.â
đĄÂ The Tea: Â
Confidence starts when you stop asking for permission to be yourself.
đ Simiâs Sip
Your light isnât meant to blend in, sugar. Itâs meant to shine â in every class, every choice, every breath.
Trust your gut. Stay true to your joy. Be who you are.
Not a lecture, just a sip of tea. âđ
